Done Done Done!

That's pretty much exactly what I did today. Today, this miraculous day, marked the long-anticipated conclusion to the worst semester of my life. I finished my part for a group project early, already took my 1 test, turned in my other paper early, and did my presentation. I have nearly completed a whopping 78 clinic hours for this semester (compare to a measly 27 from last semester). I sold back my books (and settled for less money, as opposed to none, due to the fact that I never want to see some of those books again) and closed out my clinic files. Words cannot express the elation I currently feel and will be feeling for at least the next week. Goodbye grouchy-bad-attitude Jenna and welcome back pleasant energized Jenna. I have already begun my 4-day celebration: today a fruitful trip to Old Navy, tomorrow SLP bar crawl, Thursday grilling out for Grey's season finale, and Friday a mani/pedi/lunch with my mom and the 312 dress up party. Hello free time, my how I have missed you!

Bible Bump

AKA Ganglion Cyst: A ganglion cyst is a mass of tissue that is filled with a jelly-like fluid. The word “ganglion” means “knot” and is used to describe the knot-like mass or lump of cells that forms below the surface of the skin.

Treatment
Monitoring, but no treatment. If the cyst causes no pain and does not interfere with walking, the surgeon may decide it is best to carefully watch the cyst over a period of time.

One traditional (but not recommended) method of treating a ganglion cyst was to strike the lump with a large, heavy book, causing the cyst to rupture and drain into the surrounding tissues. Since even the poorest households often possessed a Bible (referring to the large family Bibles), this was commonly used, which led to the nicknaming of ganglion cysts as "Bible Bumps."

If you're wondering why I'm writing about ganglion cysts, it's because I have one. On top of my foot. Because one of my clients was messing around and fell. His knee landed directly on top of my foot. Now there's a liquid filled sack under there. My doctor is going with treatment #1 so there will be no large book striking my foot in the near future. Not on purpose anyway.
